AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Philadelphia on October 9-10, 2025. This is a great opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026.

The event features a networking mixer on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm to hear from AECOM staff about projects, career paths, and the company, plus on Friday on-site interviews at our Philadelphia office for early career opportunities. AECOM is seeking to add an Entry Level Traffic and Intelligent Transportation Systems Engineer for our Greater Pennsylvania Area.

Role focus: Traffic and ITS engineering services, including engineering design, planning, and related assessments across public and private sector clients.

This position is expected to begin in May 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Supports planning studies and reports for new and updated plans, programs and regulations.
  • Reviews or assists in the review of development proposals and site plans for conformance with codes, plans and regulations.
  • Prepares and presents detailed reports on development proposals to government bodies.
  • Collects a variety of statistical data and prepares reports and maps on topics such as census information, land use, transportation tax base data and occupancy rates.
  • Under direct supervision, conducts field evaluations and assessments.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 0-2 years of Traffic/Transportation/ITS-related internship or work experience.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License preferred to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices when public transportation is not available.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification.
  • MicroStation/AutoCAD experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Applicable coursework and demonstrated interest in Transportation/Traffic Engineering and/or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
  • Experience with Synchro and HCS traffic analysis software, Bentley software such as MicroStation or OpenRoads Designer, and Microsoft Office.
  • Prior design experience with PennDOT and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission related to traffic engineering, signal design, ITS design, plan production, project estimates and specifications.

Additional Information

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in PA, WV, and DE. The selected candidate must be available to work in PA, WV, and DE offices on a scheduled basis.

Compensation: USD 79,000 - USD 83,000 per year, based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
