Overview

  • Schedule: Full Time, Day Shift, 40 Hours Per Week, Monday – Friday. Schedules will vary based on clinical sites and could be between 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

As a Medical Assistant Trainee, you will complete the Medical Assistant Education Program that includes 140 hours minimum of in-person & online classes, online modules, weekly quizzes or assessments, in-person simulation instruction, check offs and 160 hours minimum of supervised, clinical practicum. Gain knowledge in Anatomy and Physiology, Infection Control, Vital signs, Medication Administration, Billing and Coding, and Clinical procedures. Upon completion, you will take a national certification exam to become a Certified Medical Assistant. After meeting all requirements, the trainee graduates and may transfer to an open MAII position within IU Health.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of the program.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
  • Meet the technical and physical standards.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required.

Requirements

  • No time off requests granted during January 12 – March 13 unless emergency due to the advanced course curriculum.
  • Candidate able and willing to work M-F 40 hours per week. Schedules will vary based on clinical sites and could be between 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Candidate able to commute to Indianapolis once a week for 7 weeks 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
  • Candidate able and willing to work around biohazardous specimens and body fluids.
  • Candidate able to dedicate 10-20 additional hours per week for assignments, modules, reading, and studying.
  • Candidate able and willing to perform CPR.
