DISTRICT OVERVIEW

POSITION OVERVIEW

This Office Assistant for the Attendance Office at the High School is the first point of contact for visitors and students at the visitor entrance. The Office Assistant also provides clerical support to Administration, secretarial staff, and other building staff. This position also includes student-support responsibilities. This is a 7.5 hours/day - 191 days school-year position.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to:

· Assists in the general operations of the Attendance Office, dealing with students and parents.

· Maintain confidentiality of department and student information.

· Answering, screening and processing telephonic and in-person inquiries from staff, students, and parents.

· Greet visitors and direct them to the proper person and/or meeting.

· Assist in maintaining accurate Skyward records related to students’ attendance.

· Assist in processing and distributing incoming mail, materials and supplies.

· Assist administrators/teachers/counselors/support staff with special projects.

· Assist in regular filing and process correspondence as instructed.

· Performother tasks as assigned in support of the operation of an efficient Attendance Office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School diploma or GED.

· Associate or higher degree in Business or applicable field, preferred.

· Knowledgeable in modern office practices and procedures.

· Ability in keyboarding and data entry with speed and accuracy.

· Skilled in the use of computers and office equipment.

· Skilled in the use of software, particularly word processing and spreadsheets.

· Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

· Ability to work effectively and positively with employees, students and the general public.

· Ability to assume responsibility and maintain confidentiality.

· Ability to work independently and as a team member.

· Ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage office tasks efficiently.

· Ability to assume responsibility, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate organizational abilities to carry out a project to completion.

MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Daily, in-person attendance required

· Maintain emotional control under stress

· Ability to use sound judgment; tact and courtesy in a variety of situations

· Work with frequent interruptions

· Repetitive hand motions

· Prolonged use of computer

· Possible occasional lifting or pushing of up to 25 pounds

· Vision requirements include close up reading such as needed for handwritten or typed material, ability to adjust focus and depth perception.

· Standing, walking, sitting, stooping, bending and kneeling

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Primarily an indoor work environment. In-person interaction with students, staff and visitors.This is a fast pace and high energy post that requires keen attention to detail and professional customer service throughout the school day.

HOURS/PAY:

· 7.5 hours per day, Monday - Friday(7:15a – 3:15p)

· Approximately 191 workdays (August through June)

· Wages pursuant to collective bargaining agreement with Saginaw Township Support Staff Association (STSSA) Salary and Benefits are pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement between the district and Saginaw Township Support Staff Association (STSSA).

· Current hourly rates are $12.9458 – $17.8612

· Educational stipend of $0.80 per hour for individuals with Associates Degree or 60+ college credits (official transcripts must be received by district in order to qualify)
