Overview
The Restaurant Server provides high-quality service to guests in a courteous and efficient manner. Responsibilities include receiving and delivering orders and handling payments.
Responsibilities
- Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and colleagues at all times.
- Understand the organization of the restaurant, lounges, and room service, and know the functions of each role.
- Have thorough knowledge of menus and specials.
- Serve food and beverages attentively and courteously.
- Pre-bus tables, removing soiled dishes after each course.
- Operate the POS system efficiently.
- Handle cashiering duties, including closing checks and preparing end-of-shift reports.
- Follow opening and closing procedures and station checklists.
- Keep tables and service areas clean and stocked.
- Maintain beverages at appropriate levels.
- Break down trays of dishes and linens per standards.
- Answer phone calls professionally.
- Upsell menu items and promotions to guests.
- Know the locations and use of fire extinguishers.
- Deliver orders and collect payments accurately.
- Ensure guest satisfaction throughout service.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred; experience in hospitality is a plus.
- Flexible with working long hours as needed.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
- Stand for the duration of the shift.
- Navigate the dining area while carrying trays.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to listen, understand, and address guest and employee concerns.
- Multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
