Responsibilities

  • Expedite the loading and selection process, which includes wrapping and hauling products. May also be required to select at times and collect short cases to fill orders.
  • Wrap pallets for extended periods to increase productivity.
  • Operate a pallet jack, forklifts, and cherry picker in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Recognize the correct dock doors and aisle to stage product to be loaded.
  • Ensure the correct product is on the correct pallet to ensure service to customer.
  • Assemble all products on a pallet to enable transportation to customers while minimizing damage.
  • Contact Forklift Operators to replenish shorts on pallet before loading.
  • Locate supervisors to determine appropriate product substitutes when an item is out of stock.
  • Check for product "in transit" at the end of each night.
  • Open and close boxes, bales, and other containers.
  • Pick and assemble orders from stock, verify information and quantities, place products on pallets, transfer to staging area, and load on trucks. Verify product against picking list for accuracy.
  • Sort and place materials on racks or shelves according to predetermined slot assignment and rotate product to ensure "First In-First Out".
  • Operate forklift, pallet jack, or hand trucks to move product between locations.
  • Load and stack product on trucks so loads are stable and secure to prevent damage.
  • Assist in warehouse maintenance and cleaning.
  • Knowledge of proper temperature zoning within trailers.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee regularly works inside a cool environment from -10 degrees Fahrenheit to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
