Summary
To provide safe, effective oversight on vehicle location update, identification, movement, staging, and vehicle prep for full-time and temporary staff members. Manages all activities related to yard operations development of company products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers. Ensuring employees are following company policies and guidelines and perform in a safe manner.To provide safe, effective oversight on vehicle location update, identification, movement, staging, and vehicle prep for full-time and temporary staff members. Responsibilities
Primary
- Follows through and ensure production business plans for all yard operations are met in a safe and efficient manner.
- Establishes production and quality control standards for all yard shuttle operations.
- Manages overflow documentation for staging areas; ensures parking is always available for shippable units.
- Oversees head count per van to accomplish daily vehicle movement objectives, request personnel as needed.
- Determines responsibilities of assigned supervisory staff positions to accomplish business objectives.
- Analyze business plans for yard shuttle to meet daily goals.
- Identify issues and develop corrective action plans as necessary.
- Maintains and monitors up-to-date inventory of units on site
- Administers discipline via corrective actions to ensure team members perform in a safe manner, following all Glovis' policies, procedures and safety guidelines.
Secondary
- Ensures all support elements are developed and followed for yard activities
- Trains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Conduct weekly audits for safety.
- Performs administrative activities associated with the effective management of shuttle operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports.
- Collaborates with other departments, working together when they need assistance, achieving daily goals.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Proven leadership experience
- Ability to work weekends and/or Holidays, be on call and respond to calls during non-work hours.
Education & Experience
- Associates Degree
- 6-9 years of experience REQUIRED
