Overview

Finance Operating Executive (REMOTE) for a full-time, direct hire role with a Private Equity partner. Remote work is required, with on-site work with clients at times.

This Operating Executive will work with the firms' portfolio companies and management teams to deliver services in accounting and finance operations. You will frequently operate as a solo contributor within highly granular environments (Rev $5M-$20M). You will provide interim management services to portfolio companies to help integrate people, processes, and systems associated with acquisitions. You will lead and assist with systems implementations, perform project work, and seek ways to create value and optimize performance for the Private Equity firm.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a true business partner to CEOs at portfolio companies.
  • Analyze accounting processes to identify issues and research solutions to ensure efficient workflows.
  • Review and prepare journal entries and ledger accounts to ensure reconciliation of statements according to US GAAP.
  • Prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash flows and provide support to external auditors and professionals.
  • Implement standardized monthly financial reporting packages and integrate with client GL/reporting systems.
  • Cleanup historical financials to align with quality of earnings analysis.
  • Convert clients from cash-basis accounting to accrual/GAAP.
  • Prepare opening balance sheets and post-closing working capital true ups for new acquisitions.
  • Implement comprehensive annual planning/budget processes.
  • Prepare and maintain rolling 13-week cash flow forecasts, reconciliations of Adjusted EBITDA vs. FCF.
  • Transition banking and cash management from local banks to regional and national platforms.
  • Review loan covenants, calculate and model financial covenants and produce quarterly lender reporting packages.
  • Develop month-end closing checklist and move clients from perpetual to 10-day close.
  • Evaluate suitability of existing accounting systems and recommend enhancements and changes as applicable.
  • Develop various online and offline systems to improve efficiency of accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with client project teams on operational systems implementations to ensure integration with accounting.
  • Perform and assist with inventory assessments and valuation performed internally and by third party professionals.
  • Develop internal control programs and maintenance programs.
  • Prepare monthly billing support schedules for each portfolio client.
  • Submit regular reports & communication to leadership regarding status of each portfolio client.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive experience within a broad range of accounting and finance environments, including private equity.
  • Hands-on experience converting a business from cash-basis accounting to accrual/GAAP accounting is required.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and/or integrating GL systems and processes.
  • Experience building & maintaining 3-statement financial consolidation models with high-level competency in Microsoft.
  • Strong experience with Excel (e.g. advanced database/financial functions and formula-building).
  • Experience with multiple GL systems including QuickBooks and cloud-based ERP/GL systems (Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Dynamics, etc).
  • Experience working with external auditors.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including e-mail and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Comfortable with some travel as needed to portfolio companies.
  • Clear understanding of timelines, deliverables and ability to patiently & effectively communicate with a broad range of personality types and competency levels.
  • Confident self-starter with friendly and humble personality.
  • CPA/MAcc and MBA a plus.
