Description
- Process Development:
- Design, develop and optimize machining processes, primarily focused on turning operations, to achieve optimal production efficiency and quality.
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement to reduce waste, increase throughput, and enhance quality.
- Enhance manufacturing and inspection efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead reverse engineering, continuous improvement for machining processes (SMED, TPM, Standard Work and 5S)
- Troubleshooting equipment and processing issues
- CNC Programming:
- Develop, evaluate, and improve CNC lathe manufacturing processes and programs.
- Collaborate with operators to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
- Quality Assurance:
- Implement quality control measures and conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Analyze and address non-conformance issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaboration:
- Ensure best use of equipment and labor resources including equipment capability.
- Support estimating, sales and operations as required. This includes routing steps, times, determining the materials, tools, and gauge needs prior to releasing the orders to production.
- Work closely with customers to ensure manufacturability of new product designs and GD&T.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and supply chain, to meet production goals.
- Collaborate with maintenance team to ensure equipment functionality via planned TPM and repair support.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of processes, tooling, and machine setups.
- Prepare reports on production metrics, process improvements, and project statuses for management review.
- Training and Support:
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on new processes and equipment.
- Assist in the development of work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with maintenance team to ensure equipment functionality and improve capabilities.
- Enhance professional and technical skills by participating in educational workshops, seminars and conferences.
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a strong focus on precision machining and turning operations with various raw materials.
- Proven experience with CNC programming and operation of turning machines.
- Proficiency in CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code) and CAD/CAM software (MasterCam) and SolidWorks.
- Familiarity with machining tools, fixtures, and setups used in turning operations.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and quality control methodologies.
