Responsibilities
- Support production activities to achieve shipment schedules through development and design of methods, processes, specifications, tooling, jigs, fixtures and/or equipment modification in conformance with engineering principles, policies and practices.
- Plan factory layout, material flow, and machine/labor utilization; sequence manufacturing operations and define procedures for fabrication, assembly and/or test of components; modify part/material specifications, manufacturing methods, or tooling as needed.
- Reduce manufacturing cost and increase efficiency by researching newer technologies and proposing automation or redesign of methods, tooling, attachments; prepare cost estimates and forecast savings; assist in make-or-buy decisions based on capabilities and capital.
- Ensure production of quality parts by verifying machine, equipment and tool efficiency; investigate and initiate corrective action for problems or deficiencies.
- Introduce new products or methods by documenting required production operations (operation sheets, ERP routings, setup sheet info, CAD programs, etc.) and preparing visual aids and CNC programs when required.
- Provide manufacturability input on design concepts and specify requirements that best utilize existing equipment and manufacturing techniques; inform design engineers of manufacturing limitations and opportunities; support a smooth transition into efficient production.
- Program CNC machines via CAD/CAM, Conversational or manual methods; set up, prove-out, and optimize part manufacturing on CNC machines; train personnel on programming and setup.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM and CNC programming; solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Typically 1–2 years of directly related experience; five years of varied machine shop/tool making experience; CNC programming and machining experience required for non-degreed employees.
