Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and executing advanced manufacturing processes to support complex and urgent production programs. This role plays a critical part in driving New Product Introduction (NPI), rapid prototyping, and end-to-end program execution. Working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain teams, the engineer ensures manufacturability, efficiency, and quality across a wide range of high-complexity assemblies. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, excels in fast-paced environments, and is committed to continuous improvement in cost, delivery, and performance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for complex assemblies and urgent production programs.
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts, including rapid prototyping and operations support.
  • Support cross-functional planning to meet customer deadlines.
  • Drive manufacturability reviews and process optimization for advanced forming, welding, machining, and other manufacturing applications.
  • Program and validate CNC processes to support one-off and short-run production.
  • Design, select, or implement tooling solutions that reduce process variability and accelerate lead times.
  • Develop and maintain PFMEAs, FAI’s, and control plans to ensure robust process control and risk mitigation.
  • Support quoting efforts by defining the manufacturing approach and establishing accurate time standards.
  • Act as the technical liaison between operations and suppliers for special processes and subassemblies.
  • Provide feedback and engineering support during design reviews and supplier sourcing decisions.
  • Support capital justification, selection, and implementation of new equipment or processes as needed to expand capabilities. (Technology Roadmap)

Scope of Work

  • High-complexity fabrications, including multi-part assemblies and components requiring advanced forming, welding, machining, and special processes.
  • End-to-end program ownership—from design support and supply chain coordination to production and quality assurance.
  • Ability to manage large, technically complex projects under pressure and deliver results within condensed lead times.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in aerospace or precision sheet metal fabrication required.
  • Experience in custom and complex sheet metal fabrication is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing processes, CNC programming, and fabrication equipment.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD); capable of producing production-ready models and drawings.
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards such as AS9100 and AS13100.
  • Demonstrated understanding of design for manufacturability and modern technologies.
  • Experience with automation, advanced manufacturing techniques, and emerging technologies preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
