Overview

Job Overview – Controller (Manufacturing): Compensation: $150,000 – $200,000/year + bonus. Location: Trenton, NJ. Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office). Our client is hiring a Controller (Manufacturing) in Trenton, NJ to oversee financial operations at a high-volume production facility. This hands-on role includes budgeting, reporting, cost accounting, audits, and ERP system oversight (QuickBooks), while partnering with leadership on operations and growth strategy. Ideal candidates have a background in manufacturing, strong financial oversight skills, and the ability to lead finance teams in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare GAAP-compliant financials and ensure adherence to FDA, USDA, and tax regulations.
  • Budgeting & Cost Management: Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting for materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise the Assistant Controller and AP/AR staff, promoting accuracy and team performance.
  • Cash Flow & Audit Oversight: Manage cash flow, vendor payments, banking relationships, and lead audit processes.
  • ERP & Systems Management: Oversee QuickBooks financial modules to ensure accurate AP, AR, and inventory tracking.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with leadership on capital planning, operational improvements, and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required (MBA preferred).
  • Certification: CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years in accounting or finance, including 2+ years in a Controller or senior leadership role, with preferred experience in manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in ERP systems such as SAP, NetSuite, or QuickBooks, with advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables and financial modeling) and full proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and internal controls, with proven leadership, communication, and analytical skills in fast-paced, production-driven environments.
