This role involves leading the plant to achieve objectives related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale. The Manufacturing Manager will act as an extension of the Director of Operations, managing the production process to ensure commitments and customer satisfaction. The role is hands-on, requiring significant time on the plant floor to oversee production flow, problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the production team to meet established standards and goals across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale.
- Review labor efficiencies, workflow, and productivity regularly to identify and address issues affecting quality, cost, schedule, and customer demands. Manage scheduling, forecasting, and material shortages collaboratively with other departments.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts throughout the plant, working closely with HR, Engineering, Materials, Planning & Logistics, Finance, and IT to solve problems and innovate processes for future growth.
- Prioritize production schedules based on inventory needs, new product launches, equipment efficiency, labor availability, and material supply.
- Analyze production data to enhance quality, address capacity constraints, reduce backorders, and minimize equipment downtime.
- Set performance objectives for direct reports and provide support and coaching to foster growth and performance improvement.
- Lead initiatives to improve working conditions and equipment use for increased efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.
- 5-8 years in manufacturing roles with increasing management responsibilities.
- Over 10 years in manufacturing or related activities, preferably in a premium brand environment.
- Experience with lean, team-based, or participative management techniques.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Project management experience is preferred.
- Performance-driven with a proactive approach; proven accomplishments in this area.
- Innovative and adaptable to change.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
- Capable of independent judgment and acting as a change agent.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with cross-functional teams.
- Positive attitude and strong people management skills, including conflict resolution and coaching.
- Track record of maintaining high-quality standards and process improvements.
- Ability to plan ahead and develop actionable strategies.
- Physical requirements include walking, standing, climbing, bending, and other activities primarily indoors, with some sedentary work.
