Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) is one of the largest non-profit theatre organizations in the nation, presenting Broadway tours and producing theatre, cabaret, musicals, and innovative, immersive experiences. The position is a Custodian reporting to the Custodial Supervisor. The application window for this position has an anticipated end date of 09/30/2025.
Base pay
$19.25/hr - $20.00/hr

Job purpose
Under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor, this position is responsible for performing janitorial duties and keeping the Denver Center Facilities in a clean and orderly condition by performing tasks such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and trash removal. The role includes heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.
Responsibilities
- Primary Responsibilities:
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Gather and empty trash and recycled materials in all public spaces, restrooms, dressing rooms, replacing liners and cleaning receptacles as necessary.
- Service, sanitize, and supply restrooms.
- Clean sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break rooms, green rooms and dressing rooms.
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water, sponges, and squeegees.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Restock all supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, storage closets, and common areas.
- Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure hazards are not created.
- Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Secondary Responsibilities:
- Maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition.
- Proper labeling, dilution and use of all chemicals.
- Maintain vending closets and all janitorial equipment in a clean, organized and safe manner.
- Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
- Assist with grounds keeping (trash removal).
- Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience in cleaning facilities.
- The ability to carry out fundamental instructions, or requests in English or Spanish.
Working & physical requirements
- The work is primarily performed in a single 166,000 square foot building including theaters, lobbies, restrooms, offices, dressing rooms, and loading docks, with a wide variety of people and tasks.
- May be exposed to fumes and airborne particles.
- May be exposed to heights up to 50 feet.
- May be asked to work late and weekend hours.
- Regularly required to talk, walk, stand, hear, and communicate over radio; routine bending and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds; team lifts for items over fifty pounds; may work in aerial lifts at heights up to 50 feet.
Compensation & benefits
Compensation: $19.25 - $20.00 hourly

Location & schedule
The DCPA is located in Denver, CO and all roles are based on-site at 1101 13th Street, Denver, CO 80204. Some roles may be eligible for hybrid options. More information is available through the interview process.
