Schedule: 2nd Shift – Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM

Description

The Building Services Department is seeking (1) Custodian II to join the team and support its mission of pursuing excellence. This role performs custodial care for Georgia State University facilities, cleans and sets up rooms in assigned areas, and supports the department Custodian I. Duties may overlap with other custodial responsibilities as needed.

Responsibilities (selected)

• Sweeps, dust mops, wet mops, scrubs, strips, restores, buffs, and waxes floors; vacuums
• Removes trash, cleans counters, equipment, and furnishings
• Cleanliness of laboratories, office areas, classrooms, and other assigned work areas
• Cleans and restocks restrooms
• Set up chairs, tables, and other equipment in classrooms, meeting rooms, and public areas
• Handle emergency clean-ups and other related tasks
• Lift and move items as needed (e.g., up to 30–50 lbs); operate floor care equipment
• Possess a normal degree of dexterity; floor technician experience preferred

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience in an institutional, industrial, or commercial setting. Must be able to lift approximately 30–50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications: Ability to perform heavy lifting when required; some knowledge of custodial practices, cleaning methods, and equipment; six months of experience using powered cleaning equipment and restoring floors; experience serving as a lead person on a cleaning team; ability to follow oral and written instructions; completion of formal training in facilities courses; open to development and mentorship opportunities.
