District Wide JOB GOAL: To help clean and maintain the physical school properties, in order to provide a safe and clean environment for students, staff, and the community.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleans and monitors designated spaces and equipment in the building, including sweeping, dusting, moping, vacuuming, and waxing and rubbish removal.
- Assists in the upkeep of seasonal grounds work, such as snow and ice removal, leaves and other debris.
- Unlocks and locks premises, secures windows and activates and deactivates the alarm systems.
- Cleans and maintains custodial equipment daily after each use.
- Takes monthly fuel readings and forwards results to the Business Office when applicable.
- Restocks consumable items and provides an inventory of supplies to the lead custodian at the high school, middle school and the principals of the elementary schools.
- Helps in unloading of freight, checks and distributes freight to respective areas.
- Works as a team with all custodians in thoroughly cleaning and maintaining buildings during school breaks and in the summer.
- Collects Material Safety Data Sheets for all cleaning products and submits them to the Chief of Operations.
- Assists visiting public utilizing the facilities with directions within the building and in obtaining and setting up needed equipment.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Knowledge of basic math functions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education Policies.

- The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.
- The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb on to ladders.
- The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails, and unloading trucks.
- The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as, tables, bleachers, and/or cleaning equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors.
- The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment.
- The employee may be required to work on ladders, scaffolding, and bucket lifter equipment or in confined spaces.
- The employee may occasionally work with chemicals.
- The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
