Position Summary

As a Forklift Operator at Perry Ellis International’s Miami Distribution Center, you will play a key role in the efficient movement and handling of merchandise throughout the warehouse. This includes unloading containers, replenishing inventory, preparing shipments, and loading outbound freight. Under the direction of warehouse leadership, you may be assigned to various warehouse functions such as receiving, picking, packing, rework, and shipping based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment to move merchandise throughout the facility
  • Load and unload pallets from containers, trucks, racks, and storage areas
  • Transport merchandise to designated areas using a forklift or manual methods as needed
  • Perform accurate scans of product using RF scanners; execute tasks in the PkMS warehouse system
  • Ensure correct items and quantities are pulled and verified against order requirements
  • Follow all safety procedures when operating equipment and performing tasks
  • Assist with general warehouse functions including order picking, packing, inventory movements, and restocking
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution environment
  • Valid forklift operator certification (or ability to obtain certification upon hire)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Proficient in basic reading, math, and warehouse systems
  • Comfortable using RF scanners and warehouse management software (PkMS experience a plus)
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and meet productivity goals
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on safety and accuracy
  • Flexible to work across multiple warehouse functions as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs regularly
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and operate equipment for extended periods
  • Frequent lifting, stacking, or unstacking of cartons
  • Ability to work overtime and extended hours, particularly during peak or month-end periods
  • Fast-paced warehouse setting with moderate to high noise levels
  • Non-climate-controlled environment (can be warm, especially during summer months)
  • Collaborative and safety-focused team culture
