We are currently looking for a Certified Welding Inspector to join our dynamic, fast-paced, and growing team. The primary responsibility of the Certified Weld Inspector is to provide technical supervision before, during, and after welding to ensure first time quality. Rhoads Industries has been certified as an ISO 9001 compliant company since March 2005. In addition to ISO certification, Rhoads maintains certification with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), AISC, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Certifications are maintained through a comprehensive and coordinated Quality Assurance (QA) Program (QAP).
What You Will Be Doing
- Performing and/or coordinating QC functions such as inspections, physical and chemical testing, qualification testing, non-destructive testing, and witnessing formal operational tests as assigned.
- Witnessing welder performance qualification testing
- Reviewing customer fabrication requirements and supporting customer audits of Rhoads' welding management system.
- Working closely with manufacturing operations to advise on welding procedure and welding quality.
- Monitor weld quality and compliance with standards.
- Works closely with Quality Manager to ensure welding and fabrication quality.
- Determine if a weldment meets acceptance criteria through
- Pre job reviews: identifying materials, welding processes and procedures
- Technical oversight during the welding process including monitoring qualifications, joint fit up and in-process inspections
- Performing non-destructive testing and inspections
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections on fabricated parts
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections on erected structural steel
- Other duties as assigned
- Required: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). Applicants must have a valid certification.
- Preferred: NDT Level II certification in MT or PT
- At least 2 years of AWS D1.1 experience.
- At least 1 year of CWI experience.
- Commercial construction experience a plus
- Must be a U.S. citizen who is not a dual citizen of any other country.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance issued by the U.S. Department of Defense
- Ability to interpret specifications, mechanical drawings, P&ID's, and blueprints.
- Ability to communicate requirements in an industrial environment, and to give effective direction by using written, verbal, or sketching/Cad.
- Thorough familiarity with and understanding of AWS, ASME, AISC and ABS Codes.
- Familiarity with AISC and Mil-Spec/Tech-Pub Codes preferred but not required.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Have skill in handling multiple responsibilities, setting priorities, managing tasks, and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Have demonstrated skill working under time constraints and the ability to adapt in rapidly changing environments.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of QC industry references.
- Be proficient in computer operation, word processing, and spreadsheet skills.
- Be capable of effective interaction in a team or matrixed environment.
- Possess superior organizational skills, be detail-oriented & accurate, and demonstrate advanced analytical skills.
- The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
- Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and driving in an automobile.
- May require walking and standing on irregular, uneven surfaces in an industrial setting and possibly at increased heights, climbing and descending ladders and ship stairways or entering confined spaces.
