WELDING INSPECTOR

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: (CWI) certification from the American Welding Society (AWS).

As a Welding Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of welding operations in accordance with industry codes, standards, and project specifications. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the high standards of craftsmanship and safety that our client is known for. This role requires a meticulous eye, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual inspections of welds at various stages of fabrication to ensure compliance with AWS, ASME, API, and other relevant codes and standards.
  • Review welding procedures specifications (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder performance qualifications (WPQ).
  • Monitor welding processes for adherence to approved procedures and identify any non-conformances.
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, document findings, and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams to resolve welding issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Witness destructive and non-destructive testing, as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to welders and fabrication personnel.
  • Ensure all inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained.

Qualifications

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from the American Welding Society (AWS) is required.
  • Proven experience as a CWI Welding Inspector in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment, preferably in metal fabrication or pressure vessel manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW) and associated defects.
  • Strong understanding of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API 1104).
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools and reporting software.
