Overview

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in welding inspection processes and be fluent in both English and Spanish. This role involves ensuring the quality of welding and fabrication processes, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, while also serving as a bridge for communication between English and Spanish speaking teams.

The successful candidate will perform thorough inspections and audits of welded structures and components, ensuring adherence to the Organization’s quality control guidelines, industry standards, and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Welding Inspection
  • Perform visual and physical inspections of welds to ensure compliance with codes, standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API), and specifications.
  • Inspect welded joints using various non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, or dye penetrant testing.
  • Identify defects in welds, including cracks, porosity, undercut, and other irregularities, and recommend corrective actions.
• Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions, documenting any deviations or issues.
  • Provide written and verbal inspection reports to supervisors and engineers.
  • Review welding procedures, blueprints, and specifications to ensure that the work meets client requirements.
• Code Compliance
  • Ensure that welding activities comply with safety standards and industry regulations, including those outlined by the American Welding Society (AWS), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and other relevant bodies.
  • Advise on the interpretation of welding codes, standards, and practices.
• Communication (Bilingual)
  • Translate welding documentation, inspection reports, and technical specifications between English and [Second Language] as needed.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for bilingual communication between teams, ensuring clear and efficient understanding of project specifications and requirements.
  • Lead bilingual meetings or inspections with suppliers, clients, or internal teams to ensure quality standards are met.
• Quality Control Support
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality control processes, inspection procedures, and corrective actions to improve product quality.
  • Provide training to welders and other team members regarding welding standards, inspection techniques, and safety procedures.
• Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure that welding activities are performed in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Participate in safety audits and hazard assessments, identifying any risks associated with welding operations.

Qualifications

• Education & Certification
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in welding technology or related field is preferred.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) through the American Welding Society (AWS) or equivalent certification body.
  • Additional NDT certifications (e.g., Level I/II in ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle testing) are a plus.
• Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in welding inspection, fabrication, or a similar field.
  • Proven experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment with knowledge of welding techniques and materials.
  • Previous experience working in a bilingual capacity or in a multicultural environment is strongly preferred.
• Skills
  • Strong knowledge of welding codes, standards, and safety practices.
  • Proficiency in using welding inspection tools and NDT equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
  • Fluent in both English and [Second Language], with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
