Overview
Temp Parttime Faculty: Welding at UNM Los Alamos. This is a continuous recruitment beginning in the Summer 2025 semester. Positions are contingent upon the need of each semester as determined by student enrollment levels and current course offering. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Applicants hired from this requisition will be considered for the next requisition.
Anticipated Openings
Basic Welding, GMAW, MIG, TIG, and Arc Welding, NCCER core. UNM-Los Alamos offers online and/or in-person classes depending on circumstances.
About UNM-Los Alamos
UNM-Los Alamos is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located approximately 90 miles northwest of Albuquerque. The campus emphasizes teaching excellence and offers academic transfer courses, as well as vocational and technical courses to the citizens of Los Alamos County and northern New Mexico.
Responsibilities
Temporary part-time instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they teach including, but not limited to: meeting with the class during assigned times, content delivery, assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the Program Coordinator. Classes may be offered online or in person, depending on circumstances. Instructors report to the Program Coordinator overseeing this curriculum area.
Wages
Adjunct Faculty at the UNM Los Alamos campus are currently compensated at the rate of $1,017.60 per credit hour.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five years welding experience with MIG, TIG and SMAW technologies in professional or industrial settings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
- Online teaching experience
- Terminal degree in the discipline or subfield (Ph.D., MFA, etc.)
- New Mexico residence
