Job Description
This is an excellent opportunity to use your experience in the welding and skilled trades fields to teach others seeking education and training. No previous teaching experience required but must be a certified or licensed Welder and experienced (see below requirements).
JOB SUMMARY
Instructors are responsible for teaching students in our training programs in classroom and hands-on lab settings, ensuring they gain the knowledge and skills required for entry-level employment in their chosen field. Instructors are also responsible for sound educational practices and the academic development of each student. They will manage their classroom environment, promote a positive and engaging learning experience, and provide support, tutoring, and other assistance as needed. Instructors should model the professional behaviors and activities expected of our students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Utilize classroom and lab instruction, student assessment mechanisms, and classroom management techniques to provide an engaged classroom experience.
- Ensure that each student has been presented with the material to successfully meet the learning objectives of each course within their program of study.
- Ensure instructional materials and equipment are ready for student use, sufficient in quantity, properly maintained, and in working order prior to class time.
- Participate in ongoing faculty assessment and professional development activities to ensure an active and engaged classroom; maintain required certification and license.
- Actively participate in meetings, review assessment data, compile reports, and meet academic and administrative deadlines.
- Ensure campus compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory guidelines, along with internal policies of the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma, GED, or proof of completion of a related vocational training program.
- Verifiable work experience including at least five years of recent welding industry experience.
- Must be certified or licensed where required by law.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with success in collaborating with diverse groups.
- Demonstration of highest levels of integrity and professionalism in appearance, demeanor, and attitude.
- Ability to work in an observation/coaching environment.
- Capability to prioritize, accept responsibility, and meet deadlines.
- Superior organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to customer service.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous teaching experience or training employees within the industry.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation regulations applicable to proprietary education.
