Welder 2

Location: La Crosse, WI

Compensation: $25+ per hour based on experience

Job Summary: A Welder 2 is responsible for fabrication and welding of frames for large industrial HVAC equipment under supervision. This role maintains quality standards, meets production goals, and adheres to the schedule. This person may train a lower-level welder as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Champions safety procedures and adheres to them strictly.
  • Reach out to safety rep in shop for questions; escalate issues to Safety Supervisor as needed.
  • Performs basic welding tasks under supervision, including caulking, squaring, cleaning, and peeling plastics.
  • Able to weld to XeteX standard with supervision.
  • Assist in fabrication and welding of HVAC equipment under supervision.
  • Handle tools and equipment with guidance (power tools such as drills, grinders, sander).
  • Maintain clean work areas and equipment.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints with some supervision.
  • Maintain 3G welding certification.
  • Adhere to all quality procedures and assist higher-level welders as required.
  • Assist in training lower-level welders and maintain foundational HVAC welding skills.
  • Participate in on-the-job training programs; listen to instructions from higher-level personnel.
  • Communicate needs and questions clearly with leadership.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification or degree in welding.
  • Previous welding experience.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools (drills, saws, grinders).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Physical stamina with the following requirements: standing 75%, kneeling 25%, crawling 20%, climbing 20%, lifting 25-75 lbs (team lift as needed).
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety guidelines at all times.
