Location: F.E. Warren AFB, Cheyenne, WY

Base pay range

$120,000.00/yr - $135,000.00/yr

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen
  • Current Professional Engineer license within the State of Wyoming
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a structural engineer on large complex multimillion dollar federal construction projects, preferably USACE and/or Department of Defense
  • Non-destructive inspection (NDI) experience
  • AISC certification
  • Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) Shield and ICD 705 construction requirements
  • Knowledge of and experience with High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) design and construction requirements is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serves as technical expert and advisor for control of civil and structural systems and related steel and welding features for federal construction projects
  • Performs advisory, consulting and review duties involving civil / structural systems problems or non-compliance
  • Review contract documents, including plans and specifications, during design for constructability, non-compliance, issue identification and contract clarity
  • Participates in all phases of the contract modification process; assists in preparation of scopes of work for RFPs, government estimates, review of contractor proposals, and contract modification documentation
  • Assist with steel and welding inspections, quality assurance, contract administration and providing technical expertise
  • Documents reviews and analyzes contractor plans and submittals for approval action, including progress schedules, environmental, safety and quality control programs, certifications and shop drawings; provides comments
  • Prepares correspondence regarding contractor performance, requests for equitable adjustments (REAs), requests for information (RFIs) and other technical issues
  • Prepares partial and final payment estimates including measurement and computation of pay item quantities, materials on hand, and percent complete of lump sum items
  • Demonstrated steel and steel connection experience; experience in weld design and compliance review in reviewing plans, submittals, RFIs and field inspections; NDI experience; monitored and documented progress and advised project team of potential slippage or delay
  • Participates and executes RFI and Submittal reviews, including coordination with designers, RE, and technical experts; executes responses to the contractor
  • Review and provide technical assistance with HEMP Shielding, RF Shield and ICD 705 construction requirements; document review and interface with Designer of Record for technical changes or questions
  • Logs and maintains data to assist with project management and decision making

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Structural Engineering
  • NDI experience (repeated requirement acceptable)
  • Experience with RF Shield and ICD 705 construction requirements
  • Knowledge of High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) design and construction requirements
  • Prior federal construction project experience is valuable
