Job Title: Senior Civil/Structural Engineer (Steel/Welding Design)

Location: F.E. Warren AFB, Cheyenne, WY

Base pay range: $120,000.00/yr - $135,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical expert and advisor for control of civil and structural systems and related steel and welding features for federal construction projects.
  • Provide advisory, consulting and review duties involving civil/structural systems problems or non-compliance.
  • Review contract documents, including plans and specifications, during design for constructability, non-compliance, issue identification and contract clarity.
  • Participate in all phases of the contract modification process; assist in preparation of scopes of work for RFPs, preparation of government estimates, review of contractor proposals, and preparation of contract modification documentation.
  • Assist with steel and welding inspections, quality assurance, contract administration and providing technical expertise.
  • Document reviews and analyses of contractor plans and submittals for approval action, including progress schedules, environmental, safety and quality control programs, certifications and shop drawings; provide comments.
  • Prepare correspondence regarding contractor performance, Requests for Equitable Adjustments (REAs), Requests for Information (RFIs) and other technical issues.
  • Prepare partial and final payment estimates including measurement and computation of pay item quantities, verification of materials on hand, and percentage complete of lump sum items.
  • Demonstrate steel and steel connection experience; perform weld design and compliance review in reviewing plans, submittals, RFIs and field inspections.
  • Maintain Non-destructive inspection (NDI) experience and apply AISC certification standards as applicable.
  • Monitor and document scheduled progress of all construction activities and phases, advising the Resident Engineer, COR, and project team of potential slippage or delay.
  • Participate in and execute RFI and Submittal reviews, coordinating with designers, RE, and technical experts; execute responses to the contractor.
  • Review and provide technical assistance with HEMP Shielding, RF Shield and ICD 705 construction requirements; document review and interface with Designer of Record for technical changes or questions.
  • Log and maintain data to assist with project management and decision making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Structural Engineering.
  • Current Professional Engineer license within the State of Wyoming.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a structural engineer on large complex multimillion-dollar federal construction projects, preferably USACE and/or Department of Defense.
  • NDI experience.
  • AISC certification.
  • Experience with RF Shield and ICD 705 construction requirements.
  • Knowledge of and experience with High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) design and construction requirements preferred.
