The sports official must have an enthusiastic personality with an ability to develop relationships with participants, parents and other staff. They must have general knowledge of the major sports and a desire to use that knowledge to grow professionally with the YMCA. They should present themselves in a professional, caring manner and have excellent communication skills. They should also learn and understand the YMCA's mission and best practices in order to help foster and ensure all sports practices, games and events at the gym have a mission driven atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service.
• Demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and professionalism.
• Be energetic, mission driven, confident, respectful, adaptable and team oriented.
• Punctuality and reliable attendance.
• Apply working knowledge of rules for basketball, volleyball, flag football, soccer and/or baseball (preferred).
• Work with children of all ages.
• Accept supervision, critique and guidance.
• Officiate at other YMCA of NWNC branches if needed.
• Learn and uphold the YMCA’s mission and best practices to maintain a mission driven atmosphere during practices, games and events.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of major sports and a desire to grow professionally with the YMCA.
• Professional, caring demeanor and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work with children of all ages.
• Ability to accept supervision, critique and guidance.
• Good communication skills with children, coaches and parents.
• Current certification in CPR/First Aid/AED or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
