Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation Administration, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in sports tourism, athletic facility management, or event operations
- Experience supervising full-time staff required
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license and ability to travel
Responsibilities
The Sports Tourism Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution of all sports tourism events hosted at the City’s athletic complexes, including the Sports Complex, Freedom Florence, the Soccer Complex, the Pearl Moore Expansion Facility, and other designated sites. This position provides direct supervision and leadership to full-time staff responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City’s athletic complexes, ensuring operational excellence, facility readiness, and a high level of customer service. The Sports Tourism Manager will serve as the primary liaison between the City and external sports organizations, governing bodies, and event organizers, actively recruiting and securing new events to drive economic impact and promote the City as a premier sports destination. The Sports Tourism Manager reports to the Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Director.
