At STOKED, we use the culture and creativity of action sports as a gateway to expand young people’s worlds, opening doors to new opportunities, experiences, and futures. Our mission is to build a diverse community of fearless youth leaders who discover a love for skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing while building resilience, confidence, and lifelong mentorship along the way. By engaging BIPOC, immigrants, girls and young women, and LGBTQIA youth from underserved communities, we help them realize their potential and inspire others through action sports. For nearly 20 years, STOKED has partnered with leaders and organizations committed to equity and social justice—working together to broaden representation in action sports and beyond.

Description:

The role of a STOKED Action Sports Coach (“coach”) is to build and curate a vibrant community where youth feel seen, supported, and inspired to grow into dynamic, resilient, and fearless leaders. Coaches are more than instructors; they are mentors, professional champions, and culture-shapers who embody the energy and passion of STOKED. Leading after school, school-based, weekend, summer, and holiday programs, coaches guide cohorts of 15–20 elementary, middle, and/or high school students through skateboarding, snowboarding, and surf journeys that spark not only progression in action sports, but also pathways into paid internships, project-based learning, and career exploration across related disciplines like videography, arts and culture, mental health and wellness, and youth-centered community advocacy.

Coaches are curators of culture and connection, creating safe spaces where their cohort can discover, belong, and grow. This role is deeply relational; evolving alongside the youth, lifting them as they progress, celebrating milestones, and ensuring their STOKED journey opens doors to new opportunities. Creativity, authenticity, and a genuine love for action sports are essential. While expertise in all three disciplines (skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing) is not required, a willingness to learn is encouraged, and clear pathways are in place to support your growth. All curricula and training are provided—because we are only as stoked as our Coaches!
