Snow Sports School Coordinator Job at Pottcounty Ia in Iowa

Pottawattamie County Conservation is hiring a part-time, seasonal Snow Sports School Coordinator for approximately October through March.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, and schedule instructors.
• Book lessons and develop marketing strategies.
• Facilitate the yearly Development (Devo) Program focused on student experience and professionalism.
• Assist with administrative and marketing tasks outside of Snow Sports School duties.

Essential Functions

• Assist in hiring ski and snowboard instructors for various lesson types.
• Create training programs based on PSIA-AASI standards.
• Schedule and coordinate instructor training sessions.
• Document training processes and ensure instructor readiness.
• Develop lesson plans, marketing materials, and strategies.
• Oversee booking and scheduling, including online systems and front desk training.
• Manage the Development Program from registration to execution.
• Track and manage snow sports equipment and supplies.
• Support administrative tasks such as scheduling, supplies, and documentation.
• Contribute to marketing efforts, including content creation and advertising.
• Train staff on emergency procedures.
• Perform daily opening and closing tasks as needed.
• Assist guests with ticketing, rentals, retail, passes, and lessons.
• Collaborate with other departments and support organizational goals.
• Work flexible hours, including mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Knowledge, Experience, and Ability

• Knowledge of snow sports school operations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and establish positive relationships.
• Work indoors and outdoors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Education, Certification, and Licenses

• Must be 18+ years old.
• 1-2 years experience as a ski or snowboard instructor; supervisory experience preferred.
• Reliable with own transportation.
• Ability to work under pressure and follow policies.
• Team player fostering a positive, safe environment.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
