Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer

We are seeking a full-time Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer to join our dedicated team in Binghamton, NY. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with student athletes, ensuring their optimal health through injury prevention, evaluation, emergency response, rehabilitation, and efficient return to play. Salary: $54,000.00 - $83,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide onsite outreach athletic training services to high school and junior high school athletics at contracted schools.
  • Execute injury prevention programs, and initial on-site diagnosis and follow-up rehabilitative care to student athletes.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, medical professionals, and school officials regarding athlete healthcare and safety.
  • Develop and document individualized care plans in athlete Electronic Medical Record systems, including the Presagia EMR software.
  • Maintain compliance with all healthcare regulations and confidentiality requirements.
  • Ensure readiness for emergent situations at athletic events and provide first aid and emergency care as required.
  • Advise and collaborate with coaches to improve training and conditioning protocols.
  • Provide return-to-play guidance following injuries under supervision from Medical Director and attending physician(s).
  • Participate in continuous education and professional development seminars.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a CAATE accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Athletic Training.
  • BOC certification in good standing and current licensure in the state of primary practice.
  • Possess BLS Certification.
  • Experience in sports medicine and athletic injury management.
  • Ability to work flexibly in various environments observing varied schedules such as days or evenings, and weekday or weekend events.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dual licensure in New York and Pennsylvania.
  • Experience working with adolescent athletic populations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with diverse groups of people including students, medical professionals, and educators.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, specifically Presagia.
  • Prior experience in developing training and rehabilitation programs for young athletes.

Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of athletic healthcare services including preventive care and injury diagnosis.
  • Proficiency in documenting health records and care plans in EMR systems.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
