Job Title: Athletic Aide IV

Do you have a passion for sports and a desire to support community recreation? Cary is seeking energetic and creative individuals aged 21 or older to join our team as Athletic Aide IVs. This role is vital in delivering high-quality athletic activities for citizens, requiring strong communication skills, critical thinking, and enthusiasm for sports. Responsibilities include managing and supervising athletic program activities such as youth and adult sports leagues, special events, tournaments, and facility rentals.

This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours per week, with a maximum of 999 hours annually.

  1. Provide on-site supervision of youth and adult sports leagues.
  2. Supervise scorekeepers and gym attendants during athletic events.
  3. Handle disputes involving participants, spectators, officials, and staff.
  4. Open, set up, and close athletic and park facilities.
  5. Keep score for sports leagues and operate scoreboards.
  6. Complete accident and incident reports accurately.
  7. Collect results forms and other documentation.
  8. Assist with special events, equipment distribution, and team placements.
  9. Communicate issues to full-time athletic staff and emergency personnel.
  10. Enforce Town policies and provide information on departmental services.
  11. Perform other related tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of major sports such as baseball, softball, basketball, and volleyball, with general knowledge of others.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and the public.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Physical ability to lift moderately heavy items and move freely around activity sites.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.

Additional requirements include:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Some supervisory experience in community or group athletic recreation.
  • Passing drug testing and background checks, including criminal, education, and credit history verification.
