The health services that became the Anthony L Jordan Health Corporation (Jordan Health) began more than 100 years ago, in 1904. As one of the first 5 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) established in the nation, its roots are steeped in service to those who face barriers to health and health care, meeting their need for comprehensive medical, dentistry, behavioral health, and community services. Starting in northeast Rochester, NY, Jordan Health has since expanded to become a network of primary care offices and health centers serving residents living in three quadrants of Rochester, NY and in Canandaigua, N.Y.

Jordan Health is now seeking a Dental Hygienist who, under the guidance of the Chief Dental Officer, is primarily responsible for providing oral prophylaxis to patients.

Responsibilities

  1. Check patient’s medical records and heed precautions as indicated.
  2. Examine new patient’s mouth and report any abnormality to the doctor before proceeding with oral prophylaxis, followed by X-rays that may be required.
  3. Take and process X-rays.
  4. Provide patients with topical fluoride treatments and application of sealants.
  5. Provide patients with dental health education on an individual basis.
  6. Assume responsibility for the cleanliness and care for dental hygiene operatory, darkroom, and instruments; take morning inventory of supplies, and order and restock as needed.
  7. Instruct groups such as schools or churches on dental health education.
  8. Chart conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist.
  9. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  10. Maintain reliable attendance to support effective relationships and keep up with position responsibilities.

Education and Experience Required

  1. Completion of a recognized course in dental hygiene.
  2. Mastery of dental procedures and techniques. Skill in working with children and medically handicapped individuals. Ability to work with a diverse population. Bilingual (Spanish) abilities a plus.

Licenses and Certifications Required

  1. Current Provider BLS/CPR through the American Heart Association.
  2. Infection Control Certification.

Special Skills and Knowledge Required

  1. Mastery of dental procedures and techniques.
  2. Skill in working with children and medically handicapped individuals.
  3. Ability to work with a diverse population.
  4. Bilingual (Spanish) abilities a plus.
