Overview
Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a NICU Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in San Francisco, California. The RN will provide specialized care to critically ill and premature newborns in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), perform advanced neonatal assessments, operate life-support equipment, and support families. The role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and adherence to hospital and regulatory standards while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor critically ill and premature newborns; identify changes and document conditions and responses
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments per neonatal nursing techniques
- Perform neonatal assessments, including vital signs, weight checks, and specialized screenings
- Operate and manage NICU equipment (e.g., ventilators, CPAP machines, infusion pumps) and ensure proper functionality
- Assist with life-saving and diagnostic neonatal procedures, including umbilical line placement and intubation
- Educate and support parents on neonatal care, including feeding techniques and developmental care
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and procedures
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Adhere to infection control measures, PPE use, and sterilization protocols
- Collaborate with neonatologists, therapists, and other professionals to optimize outcomes
- Perform other duties within the scope of practice and adhere to safety and regulatory standards
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a neonatal intensive care RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification (RNC-NIC)
- PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
