Overview

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a NICU Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in San Francisco, California. The RN will provide specialized care to critically ill and premature newborns in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), perform advanced neonatal assessments, operate life-support equipment, and support families. The role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and adherence to hospital and regulatory standards while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor critically ill and premature newborns; identify changes and document conditions and responses
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per neonatal nursing techniques
  • Perform neonatal assessments, including vital signs, weight checks, and specialized screenings
  • Operate and manage NICU equipment (e.g., ventilators, CPAP machines, infusion pumps) and ensure proper functionality
  • Assist with life-saving and diagnostic neonatal procedures, including umbilical line placement and intubation
  • Educate and support parents on neonatal care, including feeding techniques and developmental care
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and procedures
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Adhere to infection control measures, PPE use, and sterilization protocols
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, therapists, and other professionals to optimize outcomes
  • Perform other duties within the scope of practice and adhere to safety and regulatory standards

Required Qualifications

  • One year of recent experience as a neonatal intensive care RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification (RNC-NIC)
  • PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC
  • Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
