Overview
Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a NICU Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in San Francisco, California. The RN will provide specialized care to critically ill and premature newborns in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), perform advanced neonatal assessments, operate life-support equipment, and support families. The role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and adherence to hospital and regulatory standards while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities
Assess and monitor critically ill and premature newborns; identify changes and document conditions and responses Administer prescribed medications and treatments per neonatal nursing techniques Perform neonatal assessments, including vital signs, weight checks, and specialized screenings Operate and manage NICU equipment (e.g., ventilators, CPAP machines, infusion pumps) and ensure proper functionality Assist with life-saving and diagnostic neonatal procedures, including umbilical line placement and intubation Educate and support parents on neonatal care, including feeding techniques and developmental care Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and procedures Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team Adhere to infection control measures, PPE use, and sterilization protocols Collaborate with neonatologists, therapists, and other professionals to optimize outcomes Perform other duties within the scope of practice and adhere to safety and regulatory standards Required Qualifications
One year of recent experience as a neonatal intensive care RN Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification Preferred Qualifications
Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification (RNC-NIC) PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position Benefits
