We have a great opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse in our clinic in Newport Beach. The nurse plays a crucial role in providing specialized care to our patients in the ambulatory clinic and assisting in the infusion clinic. Your primary responsibility is to deliver comprehensive nursing care to the patients while assisting them through their treatment journey, offering emotional support and education.
The nurses at City of Hope play a vital role in improving the quality of life for cancer patients by providing expert care, support, and education throughout their cancer journey.
Responsibilities
- Assessing patients' health status: conduct thorough assessments before, during, and after chemotherapy infusion sessions; monitor and document vital signs, symptoms, and overall response to treatment.
- Care planning and implementation: develop comprehensive care plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs and treatment regimen; implement nursing interventions in line with established care plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Chemotherapy administration: administer chemotherapy support to patients and their families regarding the treatment process, potential side effects, and self-care strategies; offer emotional support and foster a caring and empathetic environment for patients facing the challenges of cancer.
- Coordination of care: collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless transitions between stages of treatment; schedule and facilitate follow-up appointments.
- Management of side effects: assist patients in managing and coping with side effects and complications arising from cancer treatment; proactively address and alleviate symptoms, collaborating with healthcare providers as needed.
- Quality improvement: participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the care provided in the outpatient infusion clinic.
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
- Associate degree in nursing.
- 3+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Current California Registered Nurse license.
- Current BLS through American Heart Association.
- If RN is working within Medical Oncology, an ONS certification is required.
Preferred qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience in a physician's office or hospital.
- One year oncology and chemo administration.
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
