We have a great opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse in our Newport Beach clinic. The nurse plays a crucial role in providing specialized care to patients in the ambulatory clinic and assisting in the infusion clinic. Your primary responsibility is to deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients while assisting them through their treatment journey, offering emotional support and education.

The nurses at City of Hope play a vital role in improving the quality of life for cancer patients by providing expert care, support, and education throughout their cancer journey.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients’ health status before, during, and after chemotherapy infusion sessions; monitor and document vital signs, symptoms, and overall response to treatment.
  • Develop comprehensive care plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs and treatment regimen; implement nursing interventions to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Administer chemotherapy support and provide information to patients and families regarding treatment, potential side effects, and self-care strategies; offer emotional support and empathy.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure seamless transitions between treatment stages; schedule and facilitate follow-up appointments.
  • Assist patients in managing side effects and complications arising from cancer treatment; proactively address and alleviate symptoms with collaboration from other providers.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance outpatient infusion clinic care.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in nursing.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current California Registered Nurse license.
  • Current BLS through American Heart Association.
  • If RN works within Medical Oncology, an ONS certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in a physician’s office or hospital.
  • One year oncology and chemotherapy administration.
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
