The I-77 Mobility Partners project involves financing, developing, constructing, operating and maintaining a 26-mile express project as part of a public-private partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The tolled express lanes run adjacent to general-purpose lanes on I-77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville. I-77 Mobility Partners is responsible for operations and maintenance of all lanes and right of way within the project corridor limits.

Job Description
Maintenance Technician (Night Shift) will operate automotive and maintenance equipment to transport material, equipment and maintenance personnel, perform skilled highway maintenance duties, and participate in the maintenance of buildings. The employee works with maintenance personnel, receives assignments from the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager, and may supervise personnel on various job assignments. You may guide and/or train less experienced personnel on equipment operation and roadway maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Operates assigned automotive and construction equipment (e.g., tractors, mowers, sweepers, bucket trucks, Truck Mounted Attenuators) and uses tools to complete daily assignments
- Inspects equipment for proper operating condition, performs minor repairs or adjustments, lubricates and assists in repairs as required
- Performs miscellaneous skilled maintenance on the I-77 Express Lanes Project
- Performs traffic control, pavement repair, landscaping, painting, relamping, barrier repairs, and provides on-call after-hours maintenance as needed
- Responds to traffic incidents and provides roadside assistance to motorists on I-77; on-call after-hours for emergency incident response as needed
- Performs miscellaneous building maintenance as required
- Other duties as assigned
What you bring to the table
- Class “A” or “B” CDL or ability to obtain a CDL within 180 days of employment; 1–3 years of prior roadway maintenance experience or college-equivalent, and 1+ years in facilities, roadway, and bridge or grounds maintenance
- Professionalism and self-motivation; ability to motivate others
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- General knowledge of roadway maintenance operations and prior experience operating tools, equipment and vehicles safely
- Experience with construction vehicles and heavy equipment operation/repair
- Ability to perform equipment and facility maintenance and coordination
- CDL Class B and/or Class A or ability to attain one in 180 days; valid Driver’s License
- OSHA 10 Hour, CPR and First Aid training
- Basic automotive knowledge and ability to perform roadside basic service
- Experience operating tow equipment preferred
- Ability to manage tasks to meet deadlines; multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
- Team player or able to work independently
- Strong communication skills and computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Willingness to accept delegation of tasks from supervisor
- Clean and neat appearance
Working environment
May include alternate work schedules, weekends and night shifts; occasional off-hours work; noise from heavy machinery and traffic conditions; ability to lift up to 80 lbs; prolonged standing, walking, climbing, driving and sitting; possible roadway travel; seasonal outdoor duties (grass mowing, weed-eating, debris cleanup for up to 12 hours); ability to work in various weather conditions.
