I-77 Mobility Partners LLC is financing, developing, designing, constructing, operating and maintaining the 26-mile I-77 Express project as part of a public-private partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The tolled express lanes run adjacent to the general-purpose lanes on I-77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville. I-77 Mobility Partners is responsible for operations and maintenance of all lanes, both express and general purpose, and right of way within the designated project corridor limits.

Your next calling

As the Maintenance Technician, you will operate automotive and maintenance equipment to transport material, equipment and maintenance personnel, as well as perform skilled highway maintenance duties. You will participate in the maintenance of buildings. You will receive assignments from the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager, and on occasions supervise personnel on various job assignments. You will guide and/or train less experienced personnel on equipment operation and roadway maintenance.

Functions key to success

  • Operates assigned automotive equipment and construction equipment such as tractors, mowers, sweepers, bucket trucks and Truck Mounted Attenuators (TMA’s), and operates assigned gas or hand tools to complete Daily Assignments
  • Inspects equipment for proper operating condition, makes minor repairs or adjustments, lubricates and assists in making repairs as required
  • Performs miscellaneous skilled maintenance on the I-77 Express Lanes Project as required
  • Performs miscellaneous duties, such as general traffic control, pavement repair, landscaping, painting, relamping, miscellaneous barrier repairs, and available on-call after hours for emergency maintenance service
  • Responds to traffic incidents, provides roadside assistance to motorists on I-77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville and available on-call after hours for emergency incident response
  • Performs miscellaneous building maintenance as required
  • Any other job duties as assigned

What you bring to the table

You should have the experience and readiness to contribute to our maintenance team. Do you have a CDL Class A or B or the ability to obtain one within 180 days of employment? Do you have 1 to 3 years of prior roadway maintenance experience or college equivalent and 1+ years’ experience in facilities, roadway, and bridge or grounds maintenance? We seek a professional who demonstrates:

  • Self-motivation and the ability to motivate subordinates
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • General knowledge of all roadway maintenance operations
  • Experience operating tools, equipment and vehicles safely
  • Experience with construction vehicles
  • Experience with heavy equipment operation and repair
  • Ability to perform equipment maintenance, facility maintenance and coordination
  • CDL – Class B and/or Class A or ability to attain one in 180 days
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • OSHA 10 Hour, CPR and First Aid training
  • Working knowledge of automotive mechanics and ability to perform basic automotive service roadside
  • Experience operating tow equipment is preferred
  • Ability to manage tasks to meet deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong teamwork or self-direction as needed
  • Good communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn other PC-based software and apps
  • Willingness to take delegation of job tasks from supervisor
  • Clean and neat appearance

Our working environment

As a maintenance technician, you must be able and willing to work alternate schedules, including weekends and night shifts, and be assigned to a scheduled shift as needed. You may be required to work off hours regularly. You will be working on the roadway with noise levels ranging from moderate to high due to heavy machinery and traffic conditions. You must be able to lift and/or move up to 80 lbs. You will stand, walk, climb, drive and sit for long periods, with some roadway travel required. Depending on the season, you may mow grass, weed-eat and pick up debris for extended periods.
