Overview
Maintenance Mechanic - Night shift at Graphic Packaging International.
Responsibilities
- Adjust / Repair Machines Throughout Facility: Make adjustments and/or repairs to all equipment throughout the facilities to keep them operational.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance on Machines: Follow weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly maintenance inspection sheets or PM tasklists for the listed equipment. Rebuild parts and make identified repairs if possible or write up notifications.
- Perform Tooling Conversions: Remove, clean, install tooling for various machines; set proper settings. Test run equipment and ensure product meets quality standards.
- Install New Machines: Prepare site (level, conduit, air/vacuum lines). Install components and set up peripherals as needed.
- Prep Machines for Production: Run machines to produce products, evaluate quality, inspect dimensions, test for leaks, and validate lid form. If satisfactory, hand over to operators; if not, perform adjustments and repairs.
- Repair Parts: Retrieve worn/broken parts from Parts Room, repair, and tag as OK with part number.
- Install New Parts: Receive orders, sign out parts, and install onto equipment (cup machines, conveyors, balers, up-enders, pad-lockers, shredders, compressors, slitters, etc.).
- Assist Mechanic A’s: SupportMaintenance Mechanics as needed.
- Act as Operator: Fill in as an operator for various departments when required (cups, blanking, lids, etc.).
- Adhere to safety, quality, and sanitation standards to ensure compliant production.
Minimum Job Requirements / Experience
- Prior Maintenance Department experience highly preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and develop plans based on blueprints.
- Production experience preferred.
- Mechanical and electrical background is helpful.
- Ability to move around the plant, stand for long periods, and safely lift up to 60 lbs.
- Finger dexterity and good vision; ability to work with close tolerances and read schedules and scales.
- Understanding of Graphic Packaging International’s safety culture.
- Strong communication skills.
Time of Operation
12-hour shifts, alternating (36) and (48) hour weeks with four 15-minute breaks and one 25-minute lunch.
