Packaging Operator- 3rd Shift Job at Oregon Freeze Dry in Albany

Overview

Packaging Operator on 3rd shift at Oregon Freeze Dry (makers of Mountain House). The Packaging Operator role involves preparing, packaging, and ensuring high-quality products reach customers worldwide. This position is for a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and offers the opportunity to impact product quality and production efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor production equipment on the packaging line and lead activities of others on the line to ensure efficient and safe operation
• Perform machine changeovers, adjustments, and minor troubleshooting as needed
• Conduct basic maintenance and cleaning of machines according to SOPs
• Maintain production flow and report equipment or process issues promptly
• Accurately complete production records and real-time quality checks
• Ensure all documentation complies with company policies, GMP, and regulatory standards
• Enter production data into digital systems (e.g., MES, ERP, or spreadsheets) as required
• Identify and correct documentation errors or escalate them to supervisors as needed
• Report non-conformances or quality concerns immediately

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college or technical training is a plus
• 1–3 years of experience operating manufacturing equipment, preferably in a food or GMP environment
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and documentation skills with attention to detail
• Basic computer skills, including data entry and experience with manufacturing systems
• Basic math and unit conversions; ability to read and follow SOPs and technical documents
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods
• Reliable transportation with flexibility to travel between company locations
• Consistent, dependable attendance to support production schedules

Environment

• Frequent exposure to extreme temperatures
• Noise may be loud
• Exposure to various food allergens
• Regularly stand, walk, climb, push, pull, reach, carry, lift, and twist
• Must be able to lift 15 to 50 pounds regularly

Compensation and Schedule

Hourly pay: $25.00 per hour with a $1.00 differential for night shift

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3rd shift (10:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
