Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Quality Manager, this person is responsible for daily coordination of sanitation activities throughout the site.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures overall performance of the team to include quality, safety, reliability, waste and sanitation to achieve business goals.
  • Pro-actively encourages continuous improvement and daily problem-solving initiatives to increase operational effectiveness and efficiencies.
  • Regular review and coaching of team member performance.
  • Attend Sanitation/QC DDS for priority alignment daily.
  • Provide feedback for the janitorial crew.
  • Submit a daily report of activities performed for Quality and Sanitation at the end of shift to Quality lead.
  • Understand scheduled downtimes on the floor by working with production & QC (during DDS).
  • Follow duties and frequencies on Master Sanitation Schedule for the site.
  • Update duties and frequencies on Master Sanitation Schedule as needed.
  • Identify new opportunities for sanitation improvement.
  • Attention to the requirements of changeovers in any filling area, including scheduling sequences and modifying the order of duties for maximum economy of time.
  • Brush down, vacuum, and wipe auxiliary equipment, including dust collectors, ladders, overhead pipes, shells, and debris collecting pans under fillers and labelers.
  • Wet mop or dry mop aisles and work areas as needed.
  • Replace cleaning tools as needed.
  • Maintain inventory and replenish cleaning supplies.
  • Ensure cleaning of overhead ducts, pipes, light fixtures and restrooms as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace in assigned warehouse area, lunch area including sinks, shelves, and floors as needed.
  • Removal of trash from production areas, breakroom, and offices as needed.
  • Sweep and vacuum all open floor space, including perimeters.
  • Performs job tasks of other team members of jobs of equal or lower grades.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of uses, versatility, and limitations of cleaning devices and materials.
  • Ability to sustain physical work.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to follow through on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. if assigned to office area, or 50 lbs. if assigned to plant area.
  • Basic knowledge of machine functions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work overtime (daily and weekends) required.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and data entry.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, knuckle boom, scissor lift, and floor scrubber.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their uses.
  • Must be able to work at high elevation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in food manufacturing and experience leading a team.
  • Minimum of 1-year sanitation/janitorial experience.
