About Better Life Partners

Better Life Partners provides what it takes to heal from addiction. Wherever. Whenever. We work with community-based organizations to meet our members where they are, combining virtual and in-person counseling, community support, and access to life-saving medication to help people move beyond addiction to find belonging, love, and purpose.

If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and meet hard challenges head-on, this is the role for you.

The role

We are seeking a Medical Provider [NP, PA] to provide whole-person care to people struggling with addiction. This includes treatment of substance use disorders in our opioid use disorder (OUD) and alcohol use disorder (AUD) programs, and medication-assisted treatment in collaboration with our behavioral health team. Through our Responsive Care services, you will provide comprehensive medical and mental health services to our members, similar to urgent and primary care services. We are a growing organization looking for people to grow with us. A candidate who is caring, dedicated, and possesses strong communication skills and a true desire to help others will fit well here.

You will interact with members and families, referral sources, field staff, and partner community-based organizations. You will work with licensed counselors to support members’ individualized recovery journeys. Your work will help members receive quality care in their communities and improve outcomes.

We offer care to our members between 9 am – 8 pm Monday through Friday, and 1 pm – 5 pm on Saturdays. Full-time, part-time, and hourly positions are available.

This is a remote position, with potential for hybrid care in the communities we serve. All candidates must reside in-market unless otherwise agreed.

What you will do

  • Perform medical evaluations and initiation of medications for OUD and AUD; diagnose and treat medical and mental health concerns at the level of primary or urgent care.
  • Co-facilitate group therapy and medical education meetings with a licensed counselor.
  • Demonstrate and communicate the core values of Better Life Partners.
  • Participate in research and data collection with Better Life Partners and community partners.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on case management and care coordination.
  • Adhere to professional and ethical work standards.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Attend and engage in regular training and company meetings.

You are a good fit if you have

  • North Carolina License as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Doctor (active DEA in the state of licensure). Additional licenses in New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and/or Maine are a plus.
  • Several years of experience in addiction medicine, psychiatry, primary or urgent care.
  • Strong compassion for people and communities affected by addiction.
  • Willingness for hybrid work: some virtual care and some care at North Carolina partner locations. Reasonable travel is likely. Familiarity with the foster care system or care for pregnant individuals involved with child welfare services is desirable.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic and team-oriented, with the ability to multitask.
  • Proactive, flexible, and inquisitive approach to improving care delivery.
  • Extensive experience with electronic health records and telemedicine.

It would be great if you have

  • Experience managing substance use disorders in pregnant individuals.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and understanding cultural, social, and economic factors affecting care.
  • Experience with mental health conditions and willingness to travel locally in North Carolina.

Work location requirements

  • Hybrid and remote work environments. Willingness and ability to travel locally within the communities served and/or travel to onsite meetings as needed.

Working from home

  • Reliable internet with fast upload/download speeds.
  • Ability to protect protected health information in any work location.
  • Quiet space for speaking with members and team members with minimal background noise.

We’re a recovery-friendly workplace that values family life, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
