Substance Use Counselor - North Carolina
Base pay range: $48,230.00/yr - $75,600.00/yr
Overview
Better Life Partners is dedicated to healing from addiction by combining virtual and in-person counseling, community support, and access to life-saving medication. This remote role may include future onsite work, with in-market residency required for North Carolina.
What you will do
- Demonstrate and communicate the core values of Better Life Partners
- Facilitate group therapy sessions for Better Life Partners clients
- Familiarize with and utilize Better Life Partners evidence-based curriculum guides and training
- Provide detailed feedback and maintain clinical progress notes on clients
- Counsel one-on-one with clients when needed
- Participate in community research and data collection efforts with partners
- Formulate and maintain treatment plans for each client
- Collaborate with community partners and Better Life Partners providers on case management and care coordination
- Adhere to professional and ethical standards and maintain appropriate boundaries
- Manage group dynamics with professional judgment while protecting group integrity
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for licensing and billing
- Attend regular training, meetings, and supervision as necessary
You are a good fit if you have
- Graduate degree in mental health, social work, psychology, addictions or related field
- NC license as LCAS
- NC license as LMFT, LCMHC, LICSW
- 2-3 years of experience working with substance use or related field
It will also be great if you have
- Experience leading group therapy sessions and engaging with individuals and groups via telehealth
- Comfort with EMR/EHR systems and updating clinical notes
- Willingness to travel locally within the communities served
- Flexible schedule with ability to work 1-2 evenings per week
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, organized, and able to multitask
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
- Willingness to travel within NC and hold a valid driver’s license
Location and work setup
BLP operates in hybrid and remote environments. Candidates must be willing and able to travel locally and/or attend onsite meetings as needed.

- Quiet space to speak with members, team members, or partners with minimal distractions
Compensation and benefits
Actual pay will be based on skills and experience. The range provided is $48,230.00/yr - $75,600.00/yr. All full-time employees are eligible for equity in the form of stock options.
