Location Description

Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled, and curds.


Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of the department area, following sanitation schedules, and replacing gaskets when needed.

This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times and to reinforce safety as a core value. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities related to food safety and quality are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of the department area.
  2. Accountable for daily, weekly, and monthly master sanitation schedules for the department area.
  3. In charge of daily pre-op inspections.
  4. Responsible for following daily production start-up procedures.
  5. Cross-trained in two sanitation jobs.
  6. Report any equipment or mechanical problems.
  7. Able to use team efforts in inspection of the entire area.
  8. Report conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety to management.
  9. Follow sanitation schedules.
  10. Replace gaskets as needed.
  11. Ensure the room is in compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
  12. Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  13. Work independently and as part of a team.
  14. Maintain a safe and healthy workplace, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  15. Follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  1. Less than high school education.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  1. Ability to recognize similarities and differences between words and numbers.
  2. Good communication skills.
  3. Ability to perform basic math operations.
  4. Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
  5. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  6. Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  7. Open to change and self-motivated.
  8. Responsible behavior at work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Capable of lifting 75 lbs. occasionally.
  2. Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments.
  3. Ability to stop and bend while cleaning.
  4. Stand on hard surfaces for most of the shift.
  5. Work with chemicals safely.
