Location Description
Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled, and curds.
Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of the assigned department area.
This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times and to reinforce safety as a core value. Ensures all policies, procedures, and activities related to food safety and quality are followed and complied with uniformly, reducing product and process variability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of the department area.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly master sanitation schedules for the department.
- Follow daily production start-up procedures.
- Cross-train in sanitation jobs.
- Report equipment or mechanical problems.
- Use team efforts when inspecting the area.
- Follow plant goals proactively.
- Reference the CP Manual for questions about the sanitation program.
- Know and follow chemical handling procedures for caustics, acids, quats, bleach, and peracetic.
- Conduct effective pre-op to RTE standards.
- Consistently titrate correctly.
- Replace gaskets as needed.
- Perform daily pre-op inspections.
- Ensure the room complies with regulations.
- Follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Adhere to safe work practices, GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality. Report conditions affecting food safety, quality, or safety.
- Maintain a safe and healthy workplace by following all safety policies and procedures.
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
- No prior experience or training necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Prior manufacturing and/or sanitation experience preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
- Must obtain and maintain a company pallet jack license; forklift experience preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate instructions and information effectively.
- Basic math skills for adding and subtracting two-digit numbers.
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables.
- Communicate honestly and openly.
- Maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely.
- Work independently or in a team as needed.
- Be self-motivated, ask questions, and seek guidance.
- Display responsible behavior at work.
- Be open to change.
- Work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments.
- Work around cleaning solutions safely.
- Possess good hand-eye coordination.
- Stand on hard surfaces most of the shift, ascend/descend stairs, bend, stoop, crouch, grasp, and reach.
