Responsibilities
- Lead a variety of fitness classes and activities for guests, including yoga, Pilates, spinning, aerobics, strength training, and stretching, adapting exercises and routines to accommodate participants' skill levels, interests, and physical abilities.
- Conduct personalized fitness assessments and consultations with guests to identify fitness goals, health history, and exercise preferences, and develop customized fitness plans and recommendations to help them achieve their objectives.
- Provide one-on-one personal training sessions for guests, offering instruction, motivation, and support to help them improve strength, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, and overall fitness level.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in fitness facilities, including gymnasiums, exercise studios, and outdoor recreation areas, and ensure that fitness equipment is properly maintained, sanitized, and in safe working condition.
- Educate guests about proper exercise techniques, injury prevention, nutrition, and lifestyle habits to support their fitness goals and overall well-being, and provide recommendations for at-home workouts and follow-up sessions.
- Promote fitness classes, personal training sessions, and wellness programs to guests, and actively engage with guests to encourage participation, upsells, and repeat visits to the fitness center.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, managing class reservations, and processing payments, to support the efficient operation of the fitness center.
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and staff meetings to enhance your skills, knowledge, and understanding of fitness trends, exercise physiology, and guest service best practices.
Qualifications
- Certification or licensure as a Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, or Group Exercise Instructor from a recognized accrediting organization, such as ACE, NASM, ACSM, or equivalent.
- Previous experience in fitness instruction, personal training, or group exercise instruction, with a demonstrated proficiency in leading a variety of fitness classes and activities.
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and fitness training principles, with the ability to design safe and effective workouts for individuals and groups.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and engage guests of all ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels.
- Professionalism and discretion, with respect for guest privacy, confidentiality, and comfort during fitness assessments, consultations, and training sessions.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in a 24/7 operation onboard a cruise ship.
- Proficiency in English; additional language skills are a plus, particularly languages commonly spoken by our international guests.
