Fitness Facilitator/Lifeguard
Based at the Mandarin Oriental New York within the Spa and Fitness Department in New York City, the Fitness Facilitator/Lifeguard is responsible for the overall operation and appearance of the Fitness Center. The Fitness Facilitator/Lifeguard reports to the Director of Spa and Wellness.

Mandarin Oriental New York features 244 guestrooms and suites, MO Lounge, all-day dining, a 75-foot pool, a Five-Star Mandarin Oriental Spa, and 6,000 square-foot pillar-less ballroom with views of Central Park. This position is based at Mandarin Oriental New York within the Spa and Fitness Department.
Responsibilities
- Keep work area and public areas clean and organized at all times and maintain a high standard of service throughout the fitness center and spa. Follow all Standards and Procedures, checklists, and health and safety guidelines as taught by management and spa leadership. Assist in the operations of all spa and fitness departments as required.
- Front Desk duties and facility operations: guest tours and orientations, locker facilities maintenance, ensuring cleanliness and disinfecting equipment every 15 minutes, and utilizing product recommendations as part of Spa Retail activities. Maintain Preparation (prep) Room and related spaces.
- Pool operations: monitor and maintain chemical levels in the pool and vitality pools, handle pool chemicals safely, clean pools, conduct pump room walkthroughs, and record data. Report dysfunctional equipment to Spa Management and use the Hotel Service Optimization System (HotSOS). Maintain inventory of supplies for fitness center and spa operations and uphold MOHG uniform standards.
- Emergency readiness: act as the Professional Rescuer in the event of an emergency and administer first aid, CPR, and AED when necessary.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and Hygiene, assist in all areas of fitness/spa as needed, and transport operational items and equipment between areas and floors as required. May work in guest rooms when requested.
- Ensure cleanliness of the entire fitness center and spa areas, including changing rooms, locker rooms, bathrooms, showers, relaxation areas, fitness center, pool, and treatment suites, in accordance with Standards, Procedures, and Health and Safety standards. Assist with deliveries and linen management as needed.
- Follow Safe, Sound, and Sustainable guidelines; comply with New York State and City Health Department laws; test pool water chemistry per MOHG guidelines; submit water samples for health department testing and maintain equipment and safety standards.

As Fitness Facilitator/Lifeguard, we expect from you
- Must possess good written and verbal command of the English language
- Must have a current Lifeguard Certification and maintain it while employed
- Must have a yearly CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification including AED training
- Must have a current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification and maintain it while employed; expiration periods and recertification determined by NYC and NY State law

Pay and Benefits:
- Pay $31.56 to $42.09 hourly, commensurate with experience and requirements of IWA
