Position Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating power industrial trucks for moving, locating, relocating, stacking, and counting merchandise. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may perform Order Filler and Checker duties in addition to their own. They are responsible for accurate storing, shipping and receiving of product to meet company standards of safety, security, and productivity. As part of the DSV team, Associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality, and comply with all corporate and site-specific policies.

Responsibilities

• Receiving/Put-Away: unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations; input data accurately into WMS; efficiently stack and store product; maintain an organized work area.
• Order Picking: pull and prepare for shipment; ensure exact number and type of product are loaded and shipped; perform picking duties to meet customer service standards; prepare freight for operations accurately and timely.
• Quality: ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage; report quality variances.
• Delivery: move product from staging/storage to production lines or staging docks; ensure proper documentation accompanies freight.
• Inventory: maintain records for tight inventory control and security; assist in physical inventories and ensure proper stock rotation.
• Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance: maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area; comply with SOPs and policies; operate forklift and related equipment; inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment; maintain active forklift certification.
• Maintenance: perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
• Other Site-Specific Duties: change fuel tanks, assist in inventories, labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, repacking; repair pallets and trailers; work overtime as required.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience
  High school diploma or GED; 6 months experience in logistics/distribution; able to operate MHE; able to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Computer Skills
  Basic computer skills; RF scanners; WMS functions.
• Language Skills
  English (reading, writing, verbal).
• Mathematical Skills
  Basic to intermediate level for quantities, inventory, and related tasks.
• Other
  Strong attention to detail; ability to work with minimal supervision; adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years in warehouse/logistics/distribution.
• 1-2 years forklift experience; current or prior MHE certification.

Physical Demands

Occasionally: Handling/Fingering, Sitting; Frequently: Bending; Constantly: Walking and standing. Ability to lift/carry 21-50 pounds; reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat or kneel.

Work Environment

The employee is rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles; noise level is usually low to moderate.
