Mercer International Inc. is hiring: Forklift/Combi Operator in Spokane

Overview

Mercer Mass Timber, a part of Mercer International, is seeking a Shipping Forklift/Combilift Operator for the Spokane Valley, WA facility. This onsite role reports to the Operations Manager and supports the Shipping department by efficiently operating forklifts and Combilifts to move, stack, and stage panels and related materials to maintain smooth workflow.

Base pay range: $21.00/hr - $26.00/hr. This range is provided by Mercer International Inc. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and combilifts to move, stack, load, and unload panels, lumber, and dunnage.
• Perform daily equipment inspections; notify maintenance of issues and wear task-specific PPE when refueling.
• Remove panels from the sander outfeed and arrange them in the shipping department in proper order and position.
• Stack panels and dunnage securely to support safe, efficient workflow.
• Communicate effectively with operators and coordinate with upstream and downstream areas to ensure steady production flow.
• Rotate between positions as directed by leadership while maintaining accountability for the primary assignment.
• Follow the current evacuation plan and complete safety reviews before performing unfamiliar tasks.
• Locate and reference SDS information when working with chemicals.
• Maintain safety by removing snow/ice from travel areas, disposing of waste, and emptying garbage bins.
• Clean machinery, floors, tools, carts, and common areas daily.
• Work cooperatively with management and co-workers to meet safety, quality, and production goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One year of manufacturing experience preferred
• Knowledge and experience operating a forklift
• Self-motivation with the ability to work independently and follow directions
• Adaptability to change and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions; regularly climb in and out of forklifts
• Strong organizational and communication skills
