General Summary
The Forklift Operator I is primarily responsible for safely operating basic powered material handling equipment (excluding the Order Picker, Turret, and Drexel) for product receipt, storage, and order fulfillment. This position ensures product safety, quality, and legality.
Responsibilities
- Full case order picking for replenishment, customer orders, and packaging components.
- Pallet retrieval and put away in narrow aisle bulk rack storage system.
- Quality control to ensure accuracy of all transactions.
- Loading and unloading pallets and cases from trucks and conveyor lines, by hand or equipment.
- Sorting and building product pallets to meet customer expectations.
- Using machinery to apply shrink wrap to pallets.
- Performing pre- and post-equipment checklists.
- Maintaining storage location accuracy through daily cycle counts and routine inventory tasks.
- Performing other distribution tasks as needed based on business volume and requirements.
Ideal Candidate
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to operate powered basic material handling equipment, e.g., electric pallet jack, forklift.
- Must meet PPE and fall protection requirements.
- Ability to work at extended heights on equipment.
- Strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, and flexibility.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer service oriented.
- Strong team player.
Physical and Cognitive Requirements
With or without accommodations, ability to follow policies and procedures, read and interpret information, perform basic math, use hands for handling, stand/walk for entire shift, possess visual acuity, conduct physical tasks with full range of motion, and lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
