General Purpose
The primary purpose of your job position is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors.
Essential Duties
- Identify residents using wristbands or photo cards before administering treatments, serving meals, etc.
- Use only authorized abbreviations when recording information.
- Report all changes in the resident's condition promptly to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
- Record entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative and descriptive manner.
- Report all accidents and incidents observed during your shift.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident's protected health information and report violations.
- Report any unauthorized attempts to access the facility's information system.
- Perform only those nursing procedures you have been trained to do.
- Ensure the resident's room is prepared for their arrival.
- Greet residents and escort them to their rooms.
- Introduce residents to roommates and staff as appropriate.
- Make residents comfortable and assist with personal possessions.
- Transport residents as needed and assist with loading/unloading from vehicles.
- Create a warm, positive, and calm environment.
- Participate in shift meetings and report any resident complaints or grievances.
- Follow policies concerning exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous materials.
- Make beds, add extra covers as requested, and perform vital signs measurements.
- Check on residents who cannot call for help and respond promptly to calls.
- Assist with feeding, recording intake, and maintaining water pitchers.
- Perform after-meal care and other routine tasks as instructed.
- Follow work schedules and cooperate with other departments.
- Report tardiness or absences as per policy.
- Assist with daily resident functions and mobility.
- Observe and report skin integrity issues and injuries.
- Assist in preparing residents for medical tests and examinations.
- Perform restorative procedures and assist with physical examinations.
- Monitor residents' personal care needs and report concerns.
- Notify supervisors of residents leaving or missing.
- Use only trained equipment and report defective tools.
- Maintain confidentiality and report any incidents of abuse or property misappropriation.
- Respect residents' treatment refusals and report to supervisors.
Supervisory Requirements
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10th grade education.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various documents and regulations.
- Ability to write reports and communicate effectively.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts like fractions and percentages.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
- Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant per state laws.
- CPR certification preferred.
Physical Demands
Must occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds. Regularly sit, stand, walk, and communicate. Use office equipment frequently. Assist in evacuations during emergencies.
